This Thanksgiving Gratitude Game Will Make Your Holiday Even More Memorable

While holidays are a great excuse to get together with loved ones and eat too much, I try not to lose sight of what makes a holiday meaningful. And since Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, every year I try to do something to set the table (so to speak) for a conversation about gratitude that everyone can participate in.

Over the years, I’ve tried the classic option of “everyone takes a turn sharing what they’re grateful for” several times with varying degrees of success. I’ve found that without additional direction, it can turn into a competition of gratitude oneupmanship, or else devolve into repetitive platitudes.

With those less than desirable outcomes in mind, I’ve come up with what I think is going to be an ideal solution. For this week’s download, I’ve got a simple game to share that will get your guests talking about gratitude in way that feels fun and purposeful, rather than forced or meandering.

The Thanksgiving Gratitude Game

Playing is as easy as printing out a few copies of the game to pass around, grabbing a die, and getting started! Take turns rolling the die and answering the question indicated by the card. There’s no age limit or group size, and you can play as long as you like.

(You technically don’t even need a die to play — you can ask Siri or Google Assistant to roll a die, search “roll a die” on Google, or download a dice app on your phone!)

Not only will this game provide a structured way to focus on the meaning of the holiday, but it’s a great way for all your guests to get to know each other better.
